‘GCSE’ (General Certificate of Secondary Education)
Courses available: 1- or 2-year

This is the first major, internationally-recognised qualification you can achieve in the UK.  Students should take at least five subjects and can choose from a huge range, the most important ones of which are English, Mathematics and the Sciences.

Students who have passed the first grade of High School in Iran should attend the GCSE course, either over 1 or 2 years, depending on their academic ability and their level of English.  Most students will be required to take the course over two years.

Students who have passed the second grade of High School in Iran should take the 1-year GCSE course.  If their academic ability and level of English is very high, they may be able to begin the A-Level programme at this stage: they will be required to sit an entrance test for their chosen college, and if the student cannot pass this test, they are not yet ready for A-Level so should study the 1-year GCSE programme.
